I would like to thank The Border Terrier Club for inviting me to judge their Open Show. The Club and officers were very welcoming and I thouroughly enjoyed my day. I would like to thank my very helpful stewards Liz Barratt and Janice Johnson who kept things flowing through the day. I was pleased with my entry with some quality dogs to handle. It was also good to see some promising pups coming through. I was very pleased with my winners on the day.

Minor Puppy Dog Entries: 6 Absentees: 3

1st: Cedarhill Ghost Writer (Mrs M Fleming) Grizzle, mature looking 7.5 month old puppy, typical otter
head with excellent bite, good length of neck, straight front with well laid back shoulders, narrow throughout, easily spanned with good length of rib, shown in full coarse double coat, loose pelt.Tail set on well and carried well, good angulation. Moved with ease and confidence around the ring. Pleased to award him Best Puppy Dog & Best Opp Sex to Best Puppy in Show

2nd: Chorbeck Troublemaker (Mrs H Haughton) 6 Month old with nice otter head correct bite with good
expression, neat ears carried close to head,narrow straight front, spannable, good length of neck
and ribs,coarse double coat. Well angulated, moved well. 

3rd: Carrock Carling (Mr J & Mrs Y & Miss A Robinson) 7.5 month old good head, narrow front, short of coat on the day. Good angulation, preferred movement of previous 2.

Puppy – Dog
Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1st: Loiriston Adair (Dr R E & Mrs F Wheatley) 11 month old typical otter head with good bite. Length of neck ok, good in shoulders and straight front, easily spanned with harsh dense double coat with loose pelt. Well set on tail with good angulation, moved ok. 

Junior – Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 0

1st: Lairehope Highland Chief Of Tweedburn (Mrs C A Archibald) 17 month old dog nicely proportioned
with a good otter head and expression, scissor bite, neat ears carried close to the head. Well laid shoulders with straight front legs, spannable, nice length of rib leading to good angulated quarters. Shown in double coat, good tail set and carried well on the move. Moved Soundly around the ring.

2nd: Chorbeck Chatty Man JW (Mrs H Haughton) 17 month old dog good otter like head, well laid back
shoulders with straight front, good length of neck spannable, in good harsh double coat with thick loose pelt moved out well. 

3rd: Shiftyfox Tried And Tested (Mr G Wildey) Strong Otter like head, good shoulders, good length of rib. Coarse double jacket, loose pelt moved ok.

1st: Otterpaws Muninn (Mr & Mrs G Birrel) Correct Otter head, good bite, well laid back shoulders with straight
front, good length of neck and rib, narrow throughout, coarse double coat, good tail set, well angulated rear moved with ease around the ring.

2nd: Fieldsearch Phantom (Mr D Pearson & Ms A Towers) Otter like head, narrow front, shown in coarse
double coat, good length of rib,moved ok.

3rd: Tyneaster Special Agent (Mrs V Atkinson) Prefered head of 1st and 2nd, narrow throughout. Correct
double coat, well set tail ,moved ok.

expression neat ears carried close to head ,nice length of neck leading to well placed shoulders, straight narrow front, easily spanned. Coarse double jacket with thick loose pelt, well angulated rear, carried tail well, moved out well.

2nd: Tyneaster Dark Agent (Mrs S F Gill) Not as strong as 1st place in head, narrow throughout, spannable,
good length of rib, neat carrot tail, moved well.

Karison Kosta (Miss K Johnson) Nicely balanced well constructed dog with strong otter head, neat
ears, good scissor bite with strong lower jaw. Good length of neck leading to lovely shoulder placement and straight front legs.Narrow throughout with good length of rib, shown in good coarse double coat, well angulated quarters, moved good and true around the ring.

2nd: Bordurrock Rainbow Rising (Mr D & Mrs E Gillies) Otter type head, neat ears, scissor bite.Tight double
coat loose pelt,well angulated rear, carried tail well on the move. Moved ok. 

3rd: Glenbucket Highland Lad (Mrs M J Alexander/N Anderson) Strong otterhead. Good length of neck, well
laid back shoulders, straight front,good double jacket and loose pelt,good rear angulation,moved ok.

Res: Earthwise One To Beat (Mr E Houston)

VHC: Markington Apollo (Mrs M Houseman)

1st: Cedarhill Once Upon a Time (Mrs C Dean) Blue and tan dog with typical otterhead. Well laid back
shoulders, straight front. Easily spannable, tight coarse double coat, good length of rib leading to strong well angulated quarters, short carrot tail. Moved well around the ring. 

2nd: Irton Mountain Dew (Mr D & Mrs A Fryer) Balanced dog, heavier in bone than 1st place. Otter like head with short muzzle, narrow front and good shoulders, heavy double coat, narrow ribbed, spannable, not as well angulated in quarters as 1st place. 

3rd: Carrock Carnegie (Ms J Fawcett) Narrow balanced dog shown in good condition, typical otter head
scissor bite, double coat, moved well. 

Res: Dandyhow Friendly Fire at Chevinor ShCM (Mrs H A Metcalfe)

VHC: Flutorum Artful Dodger (Mr E & Mrs J Castel)

Kosmic Sun over Karison (Miss K Johnson) Balanced dog with an otter like head,scissor bite with
strong lower jaw. Narrow throughout, straight front, spannable, coarse double coat. Well set tail which was carried well on the move, well angulated quarters and moved well. 

2nd: Ridgebow Rifleman JW (Mr N & Mrs A Duxbury) Smart looking dog with otter like head, good shoulder
placement and front, double coat with loose pelt preferred the length of body of 1st place, moved ok.

1st:
Northborders Lady Mary (Miss J North) 8 month old Blue and tan,stood out in what was one of the
strongest classes of the day, on any other day the placings could easily have changed. Balanced, feminine expression otter like head, scissor bite, neat small ears.Good length of neck leading to well laid back shoulders, narrow throughout,straight front legs.Good length of body, tight coarse double coat. Level topline with good tailset, moved well.Was a pleasure to award her Best Puppy Bitch & Best Puppy in Show

2nd: Carrock Caelan (Ms J Fawcett) Another nice young rangy puppy with feminine expression, 8 month
old, correct head with strong lower jaw, correct scissor bite, narrow front, tight double coat with loose pelt,good turn of stifle, moved ok. 

3rd: Cedarhill Correspondence (Mrs C Dean) 8 month old, smaller in build than 1st and 2nd, racy body
lines, good head,small neat ears carried close to head .Straight front with correct shoulders, coarse tight double coat, moved well .

Res: Thornheswin Little Secret With Obaircre (Mr J Graham)

VHC: Bordurrock Tarot Woman (Mr D & Mrs E Gillies)

Puppy – Bitch Entries: 4 Absentees: 1

1st: Henley Star (Mrs J Potts) 10 month old, grizzle, nice sized puppy,narrow throughout, correct double
coat. Well angulated moved ok. 

2nd: Royday That's Hot At Bonosue (Mr I A & Mrs L A Hardman) 10 month old, otter type head, well laid back shoulders, not as narrow in front as 1st, shown in double coat, moved ok  

3rd: Keebank Rose Campion (Mrs L Keeffe) 9 month old, not as strong in head as previous places. Scissor bite, straight front, good length of rib, loose in front movement may settle with age.

Junior – Bitch Entries: 13  Absentees: 8


1st:
Charlie's Copycat Via Otterbobs (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin) 14 month old bitch with good conformation and racy outlines.Typical otter head with feminine expression. Neat ears, large teeth with strong under jaw. Excellent reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Straight front, narrow throughout with good length of rib, well set tail carried well on the move. Coarse double jacket with loose pelt, good turn of stifle, moved with confidence around the ring. A promising young bitch who I was pleased to award Best Bitch & Best in Show

2nd: Akenside Electra (Mrs L A Gosling) Balanced bitch, typical head, strong jaw with large teeth, heavy in
coat on the day, moved with confidence around the ring. 

3rd:Thorneyburn Rags To Riches (Mrs M J Wanless) Well made, narrow bitch, good shoulders with straight
front, good length of body. Moved out well.

shoulders, spannable. Shown in full double jacket, rear quarters well angulated, moved well.

2nd: Achnagairn Prim N Proper (Mrs A Fraser) Well constructed racy bitch.Typical head, good length of neck, tight double coat, moved ok.

3rd: Picer Angelica To Nottorg ShCM (Mr P & Mrs A Taylor) Narrow throughout, spannable, good length of neck and rib. Moved with ease around the ring.

2nd: CH Otterbobs Xolana (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin) Feminine looking bitch with racy outline, strong ,otter head, narrow straight front, good length of rib. Moved well. Close decision between 1st and 2nd . 

3rd: Remony Frosted Ivy JW ShCM (Mrs A Gregory) Otter head with scissor bite. Well laid shoulders, spannable, shown in correct double coat, moved well.

shoulders. Good length of rib, short carrot tail, moved well around the ring . Oldest Veteran

1st : Caitlin Lister Very attentive handler, having good rapport with her dog.She put the animal where it needed to be, and allowed me to judge to my full advantage.Showed with extreme confidence,and knowledge of ring procedure. Very nicely done.  Best Junior Handler 

2nd: Monica Dixon This handler also showed very well. She was aware of proper procedure, and handling practices.With a small amount of confidence will be a very competitive exhibitor. Very well done.
